Anthropologie Inspired T-Shirt

Who doesn't just drool over the clothing and accessories from Anthropologie? The price tags don't exactly fit into this single-mom's budget. With a little ingenuity and the right materials on hand, I did (in my humble opinion) a fair job of replicating one of their fun t-shirts. I took a plain black tee and added some ruffle down one side. Cute enough, thought I, but why not go a little further? I popped a few silver buttons on the ruffle and VOILA! Drab to fab in less than 15 minutes. Oh, for the ruffle I just cut strips (2" wide) off of one of my daughter's outgrown t-shirts, sewed them together to make one long strip (approx. 4' long). I handstitched down the center of the fabric, then gathered it up into soft ruffles. Easy shmeasy!

On the Fence

There are those "win some" projects, there are those "lose some projects" (case & point: my wart eggs), and there are some projects that you're just not sure about. This wreath falls into the third category. I love the combination of turquoise and earth tones, so I decided to do a wreath with buttons, beads and small stones. I finished it a few days ago and keep eyeballing it, not sure if I like it (it's definitely not a piece that I love) or hate it (in which case, I'm pulling it apart...no sense wasting my bits & baubles). In spite of the fact that I love the color combination, it doesn't match anything in my home...at least not at the moment (subject to change on a whim). Keep or dismantle and start again...any thoughts?

MY Friendship Momento

This is my version of Monica's "Friendship Momento". I couldn't find heart forms anywhere, so I used a standard wreath styrofoam form. I followed, as best I could, her tutorial...et voila! What makes mine a special, to me, is the vintage lace ribbon tied at the top, which was part of an antique wedding gown piece sent to me from...Monica! I realized, after I took the pictures, that I still have some cleaning of the glue gun "cobwebs" to take care of. OOPS :-)
