Kittens!

I don't know what makes me think that I have the "right" to bore y'all, to tears, with my silly kitten pictures. I wasn't this bad with pictures of my own kids, when they were babies. Maybe it's because I realize that 1/2 of the "batch" will be moving on, to new homes, in a matter of weeks. That works as a plausible justification. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Gretel, by the way, is none too pleased now that the kittens are mobile and in her face. She might be more receptive if they didn't see her as another potential milk source. That was one picture I was unable to capture...and would have given anything to have!

On a Roll!

It was a splendiforous day in CT...finally...and we're in for more glorious sunshine this weekend. WOOHOO! I love how there is a palpable shift in the energy level when spring arrives in full force: people are more patient with other drivers on the road, smiling faces are more abundant and simple greetings are friendlier & more genuine. In short, most of the "Eeyores" go into hibernation and the world is abound with "Tiggers". Although I had a "to do" list chock full of indoor chores, I just couldn't keep myself confined by four walls. I did a bit of gardening, cleaning up the garage, had a picnic lunch with a friend and practiced my photography skills. Did the spring & winter clothes get switched around? Nope! Did I sort through clothes the kids have outgrown? Nope! Did I organize the basement, in anticipation of my landlord bringing me dumpsters for a massive purging? Nope...nope...nope! I joined the rest of the springy Tiggers and worked on refining my bounce. Still lacks finesse, so I just may practice again tomorrow :-)
Ohhh....pictures: the flowers are self-explanatory (simple collages of my miniature daffodils & my one, red tulip). The little doors are "fairy" doors that I have scattered around my gardens. I also happened to catch a shadow, from the "GROW" sign I have in my side garden. I thought it went well with my tiny fairy doors when I was doing that collage. Yes? No?

I Promise......

As difficult as it will be, I promise to exercise restraint when it comes to inundating my blog with pictures of the new baby. I have to remind myself that 1.) I am not the Grandma of baby Lyrik and 2.) people will only tolerate having to "Ohhhhhhh" and "Ahhhhhhhh" over baby pictures for just so long. I promised Jessica (the new Mom), however, that I would post these updates to show how much he's changed in 36 hours (no more blue, bruised face and his nose is starting to pop into shape). Did I mention that I get to spend the day with them tomorrow because the "real" Grandma has to work?

Playing with Pictures

Normally, I am very persistent when facing challenges, but I am on the brink of surrendering to, what is clearly, an inability to take decent pictures. In spite of my cute, new camera and the discovery of the Photobucket editing program, the pictures that land up on my computer monitor do not come close to those I've captured in my mind's eye. I will, for at least a bit longer, plug along and hope that I have one of those "AHA!" moments when everything "clicks". In the meantime, I trust that your wonderfully creative imaginations somehow transform my awkward attempts into something lovely. I was pouring through older pictures of my children and decided, perhaps, they (the pictures, not my beautiful kids) would look better in a collage. Worth a try!
***Lest it appear that I favor my daughter over my son, I offer this disclaimer: he has made it perfectly clear that he wants no part in my blog and has "forbidden" me from mentioning him. Does he forget that I brought him into this world..... My daughter, on the other hand, would happily star in each and every posting!

Serendipity

Serendipity: a fortunate accident. Just last night, I was lamenting about my camera/ photo editing program being highly uncooperative. In the midst of trying to take pictures of my projects, I switched to the sepia effect, on my digital camera, and happened to catch my daughter looking very pensive and sweet. There was no posing for this picture and it required no alterations whatsoever. Suddenly, my angst over the other silly pictures has vanished. I have this one...and it more than makes up for the rest!

Stormy Weather

Tuesday's ice storm, and the kids' 104th snow day of the year (okay, maybe it just FEELS like that, after a 12 day Christmas vacation) produced some of nature's most majestic ice sculptures. I was able to capture some half way decent images and, with the help of Picasa, create some interesting collages. I still haven't figured out how to properly position pictures in my blog, so let's just pretend they are randomly scattered about.
